Color Theory art classes for kids are all about creativity! Kids use their imaginations while using a wide variety of materials and completing one project per class! They explore artists, techniques, world cultures and more.  Our comprehensive ART curriculum is always NEW & EXCITING

We offer art classes for kids of these age groups:
*Little Colorists (20- 36 months)
*Primary Colorists (N, PRE-K & K)
*Secondary Colorists (1st or 2nd – 6th Grades)
*Master Colorists (Tweens & Teens)

Our studio space is able to hold up to 20 students per class time.

We are offering PERSONAL GROUP classes as well as OPEN ENROLLMENT classes.

PERSONAL POD GROUP class:

Your child and a group of their friends can register together and have a class for themselves. Minimum of 8 Children to hold a pod class. POD classes follow our studio schedule dates. *We may have another open class on the other side of the room at the same time with a separate teacher*

OPEN ENROLLMENT class:

The studio can hold up to 20 children, you can register your child to participate in any of the offered class times-

REFUNDS AND MAKEUP POLICY

There are NO cash/credit card refunds/Account Credits for class semester purchases. Weather Cancellations Are Notified Via Email – We Do Our Best To Make Up Classes For Classes Cancelled Due To Bad Weather But Not Always Possible Due To Scheduling. MAKEUPS ARE NOT GUARANTEED – It is Based On Schedule Availability. If You Would Like To Schedule A Makeup – You Must Contact Color Theory Prior To The Class Your Child Will Miss– No Exceptions. If no class days or times work, we will pack up the materials for the project with a list of steps to do at home. No Refunds Will Be Issued – MAKEUPS MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE SESSION. Any Credits Issued for classes will have a 1 year expiration from date of issuance.

LITTLE COLORISTS
Little Colorist & ME 

AN ADULT & CHILD CLASS (45 Minutes) 

Ages: 24–36 Months

Our adult/child class provides special experiences designed to bring out the BIG artists in your little ones! Little Colorists are introduced to developmentally appropriate art materials and projects.  Our step-by-step approach allows for children to learn to follow direction, develop problem-solving skills, refine motor skills and expand imagination. Curriculum projects are designed for students to learn simple art concepts such as color, shape, line, pattern and much more.  We focus on vocabulary and simplicity of project steps while providing a space for socialization and play to happen!

PRIMARY COLORISTS
STUDIO ART (60 Minutes)

GRADES: Nursery, Pre-K, K (AGES 3.5 – 5.5YRS)

Explore the magic of fine art and mixed media!  Primary Colorists will discover how to layer and combine a variety of quality art materials to create their own unique works of art.  Students will learn about famous artists as well as being exposed to various art techniques including painting, drawing, collage and much more. Primary Colorists in our Preschool and Kindergarten Art Classes develop skills important for school success such as fine motor skills, language, cognitive skills and the ability to listen and follow directions in our captivating environment. Each week our artists will complete a masterpiece that is all their own!

DRAWING FOR PRIMARY COLORISTS 
DRAWING PROGRAM (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Nursery, Pre-K, K, 1st

Everyone can draw! Our Primary Colorists will learn how to draw by using the basic building blocks of art.  This class uses elements our Primaries are familiar with such as numbers, letters, shapes, lines and colors.  Creating landscapes, seascapes, animals, food, people and many other subjects by combining simple elements such as shape and line to create a bigger picture.  These artists will be encouraged to scribble, color, and experiment with drawing materials to see how they work on their own and with each other.  Students will leave each class saying ‘I CAN draw!’ after seeing the amazing works they create by using fundamental elements that they already know.  This class will help your artist become a confident and creative freethinker!

SENSORY CLASS
SENSORY PROGRAM (60 MINUTES) 

GRADES: Nursery, Pre-K, K AGES 3.5 – 5

Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. Sensory spaces allow students to learn at their own pace and develop skills without pressure, while encouraging them to express themselves in an effective, gentle way.

  • Focusing on tactile skills and object manipulation

SECONDARY COLORISTS  
STUDIO ART (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 1-5

Explore the magic of fine art and mixed media!  Secondary Colorists will be exposed to various art techniques including painting, drawing, collage, sculpting and much more. Each lesson focuses on different mediums from paint, pastels, watercolor, chalk, clay and more. Students will be exposed to various artists and cultures while also learning art and design elements.  Colorists will be introduced to abstract and realistic painting, still life, portraiture, contour drawing, patterns, positive and negative space, sculpture and special relationships.   Each week our artists will complete a masterpiece that is all their own! Secondary Colorists in our Elementary level Art Classes will become confident creative thinkers and problem solvers.  In our inviting and safe environment, students can create work from their own ideas by exploring media, making mistakes and having FUN.

SECONDARY DRAWING
DRAWING PROGRAM (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 2-5

In this class, students learn the elements of art – line, shape, color, form, space, value, and texture. They build a foundation in drawing and gain a new way to view the world around them. Children learn proportionality and one point perspective. They begin to learn shading, light, and shadow. Students draw faces, bodies, animals, still life, optical illusions, and scenery. The class is taught using dry materials such as pencils, pastels, colored pencil, art markers, and occasionally watercolors. Secondary Colorists will explore worlds of different styles such as basic drawing, cartooning, Japanese Manga and art!

SECONDARY PAINTING 
PAINTING PROGRAM (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 1-5

Primary painters learn the basics of color theory, the study of light and shadow, brushwork, paint handling and application, visual perspective and composition. This class uses tempera paint on canvas boards and stretched canvas as well as watercolors on canvas and paper. Varied subject matter will be explored using visual images of landscapes, famous artists works, still life, abstraction, pop art and much more!  Our primary painters program is focused on learning techniques and understanding the basics while allowing our students to make each work their own! 

CARTOONING 
DRAWING PROGRAM (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 1-5

Color Theory takes cartooning to a whole new level by incorporating cartooning into the creative process. Artists learn the art of cartooning, including imagining and sketching characters, preparing and discovering the creative process for comic strips and animation. Artists learn to communicate with images rather than words.

COLOR THEORY

SECONDARY COLORISTS (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 2-5

The Color Theory Course includes topics like color dimensions, color mixing, brightness, hue and value.  This class will cover the three basic categories of color theory:  The Color Wheel, Color Harmony and Context of how colors are used and apply them into their projects. They’ll create their own color wheel during their first class and use it to complete projects throughout the semester.  Learning complimentary colors, analogous colors and monochromatic and applying them into their art project.  Students will also learn how to create tints and shades using paints as well as creating gradients of colors.

PRINTMAKING
SECONDARY COLORISTS (60 Minutes) 

GRADES: Elementary 2 – 5

In this class, our artists will explore intricate designs and techniques of monoprint and relief printmaking, as well as alternative processes. Using Gelli plates and brazzers, carving into foam, stamping and other printing techniques students will explore different types of printmaking. Artists will develop skills in layering, carving, composition, and design as they explore materials and techniques.  From design conception to the final edition, artists will use a variety of mixed media and materials as they explore what’s possible in printmaking!
